Graduate Commission_edited.jpg

We are excited to be launching our first Graduate Student Animation Commission, open to all animation 2022 graduates based in Devon or Cornwall.

The funding includes:

  • £2,000 commission fee

  • A full Adobe Creative Suite licence for the duration of the commission (worth £465)

  • Use of the YMS studio space and equipment

  • Access to a number of talks/critics from various industry mentors

  • The final animation will be placed in festivals and promoted via social media, industry colleagues and contacts

How to Apply

  • Please email your animation idea, as a one page treatment before Friday 29th July 2022 to info@yellowmousestudios.co.uk

  • Those shortlisted will be invited to pitch their idea directly to a panel of YMS colleagues, where you will be given the opportunity to fully discuss your concept

  • The idea must be a complete story, and can be in any form of animated genre

  • The story must focus on 'current' cultural concerns and important issues e.g. the state of politics, climate crisis, raising energy costs etc. and told in an entertaining way - humorous, emotional etc...

  • The animation should be around 10 minutes in length

Production Criteria

  • The animation must be completed within 4-8 months

  • Production meetings will take place on a weekly basis, as a minimum. This might be more than once a week depending on the current state of production

  • Although a proportion of the work can be remote, there will be an expectation that the production takes place in the YMS studio space. The timetable of this will be confirmed with the chosen candidate (a candidates' ability to work in house will also be a consideration in the final awarding process)

  • The final animation will be fully credited to the artist, but as this is in collaboration with YMS, as the production company, we will retain the rights, and the animation will be promoted and used as an YMS production
