 - Junior Animator

We are looking to recruit a Junior animator as part of the Government's Kickstart scheme. To be eligible for the scheme you must meet the following criteria:

 

  • 16-24 years old

  • Claiming Universal Credit

  • Struggling to secure work or an apprenticeship

  • Would benefit from a quality six month paid job along with support and guidance to help build your long-term career.

 

Working as part of a small creative team, the Junior Animator will be assisting on projects for a variety of international clients involving 2D, 3D or stop-motion animation. 

 

Good illustration skills are essential as is a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, however other software experience for the right person will be considered.

 

Those applying should have a passion for animation, and have a portfolio and showreel of their own work in either digital or traditional animation techniques. An animation degree or similar is preferred, although not essential, if they can demonstrate the skills required for the role.

 

Our Junior Animators should be able to manage their own time effectively so that deadlines are met and also be prepared to undertake small admin tasks as part of the role.

 

Structured training will be given and prepared by an industry professional, which will be an aid to enhance skills, and prepare them for the animation industry. All training requirements will be completed in-house, and overseen by the studios creative director. 

 

Once the candidate can demonstrate the skills required, they will be able to work on client briefs that range from explainer animations to music videos as well as in-house animation projects.

 

The placement will take place in our city centre studio in Exeter, which has good public transport links. There is no parking available on site.

 

This is a 6 month placement, however there may be the potential for the role to extend beyond this.

     

Number of hours per week: 25 - 10:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday and Fridays 10:30 to 13:30


Hourly rate of pay: National Minimum Wage

Person specification and experience

​

  • Ability to demonstrate either digital or traditional animation techniques.

  • An animation portfolio of own work completed. 

  • Animation degree or similar preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, other animation software knowledge also considered.

  • Good illustration skills.

  • Stop-motion experience a benefit.

  • Creative with an eye for detail.

  • Good communication skills.
